Naming Implicit Bias: Becoming a Culturally Competent Youth Ministry

Let’s be honest, our culture is full of stereotypes and presuppositions that are deeply woven into our experience of church and our practice of making disciples. For ministry leaders to invest in the Kingdom of God, we must be able to navigate cross-cultural interactions with grace and competency. If we lack a cross-cultural skill set, we run the risk of our ministry being homogenous and operating out of a dominant perspective. In this conversation, we will take an introductory look at cultural competency and how it affects ministry operations. Then, we will examine our current ministry operation to determine areas of growth and areas of grace. We are excited to hear your perspective in this conversation!
